This bowl is turned from bog oak – oak that has been preserved in wet soil for hundreds or thousands of years. The long time underground has naturally darkened the wood and given it its deep, dark brown hues.
At the bottom of the bowl, the wood opens up in a natural crack, which developed into a breakthrough during processing.
The surface has been sanded and oiled, so that the wood's structure and luster are clearly visible.
The bowl stands as a sculptural object in itself.
