About Us

Skov Studio was founded in 2023 by twin sisters Julie Lundgaard and Simone Lundgaard. The name Skov means forest in Danish – a reflection of both the surroundings of the workshop and the materials at the heart of the practice.
The studio focuses on creating handmade wooden objects shaped by natural movement and aesthetics of the material itself.
The workshop is located in the forest, which is also the source of many of the materials used. The wood is responsibly sourced from trees that were felled for other reasons than commercial use.
Skov Studio works with the inherent qualities of wood, seeking to reveal what is already present within the material: grain patterns, tonal variations, movement, and natural imperfections. Organic forms and irregularities are allowed to emerge naturally. Cracks are repaired using different techniques that add character and depth to each object.
The Studio strives for a kind of beauty that is not defined by clinical perfection, but instead embraces the natural imperfections of wood.
