This bowl is turned from bog oak – oak that has been preserved in wet soil for hundreds or thousands of years. The long time underground has naturally darkened the wood and given it deep black hues.
The shape is soft and organic with an opening that is broken by natural cracks in the wood. The cracks are part of the expression and bear witness to the material's movement and history.
The bowl is primarily a sculptural object, but can also be used for serving dry foods.
