This small vase is turned from bog oak – oak wood that has been preserved in wet soil for hundreds or thousands of years. The long time underground has naturally darkened the wood and given it deep black hues.
The shape is soft and organic with an opening broken by natural cracks in the wood. The cracks are part of the expression and bear witness to the material's movement and history.
The surface is sanded and oiled, so the wood's structure and glow are clearly visible.
The vase is a small sculptural object in itself but can also be used for dried flowers. With a small glass insert, it can also be used for fresh flowers.
