This small vase is turned from bog oak – oak wood that has been preserved in wet soil for hundreds or thousands of years. The long time underground has naturally darkened the wood and given it deep black hues.
The shape is soft and organic with a small opening where the raw edge has been preserved. A distinct crack runs through the wood on the side. It is part of the expression and testifies to the material's movement and history.
The surface is sanded and oiled, making the wood's texture and glow clearly visible.
The vase is a small sculptural object in itself, but can also be used for dried flowers or branches. With a small glass inside, it can also be used for fresh flowers.
