This platter is turned from ash wood from a part of the tree with branching. A branch has been cut off on one side. Here, initial decay can be seen, where the grain patterns are black. In several places, the decay has created breakthroughs in the form.
The platter was turned from wet wood and has moved during drying. An opening is held together with a stitch in waxed cotton cord.
The bowl functions as a sculptural object in itself or for storing small items.

Treatment:
The bowl is treated with a food-safe Danish oil, which protects the surface and helps repel water and moisture. It should be washed by hand with warm water and mild dish soap. It is not dishwasher safe. For more information, please refer to our guide on maintenance of wood products.
